Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan has said that there are no plans to withdraw investments in BSNL, a public sector telecom company. He gave a written reply to a question posed by a member of the Lok Sabha.

The minister said there would be no disruption in services due to the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) announced as part of the revival of the company.

Noted that the company bharat sanchar nigam limited currently has enough staff to meet the needs. The company had valued all assets worth Rs 89,878 crore as on March 31, including buildings, land, towers, other telecom equipment and non-telecom equipment. 

BSNL has a market share of 9.90% among mobile subscribers as on December 31, 2021. The share of Wired Broadband subscribers was 15.40 per cent.

In October 2019, the Center approved a revival plan for the company. As part of that, a voluntary retirement scheme was implemented for those above 50 years of age. 

Allocated spectrum for 4G services. Some assets were cashed. Raised funds through government guarantee bonds. As a result, the company's operating profits will be positive by 2020-21, Chauhan said.
