Union Road Transport and Roads Minister Nitin Gadkari has made it clear that there should not be another toll plaza within 60 km of a toll booth on national highways. Those that do so will be shut down in three months, he said. To this extent he announced in the Lok Sabha.
Gadkari was responding to a question on the allocation of funds to the Ministry of Road Transport. "There should not be two toll plazas within 60 km of national highways. But in some areas that is so.
This is wrong. Also illegal. If there is a second toll plaza within 60 km of one toll booth we will close them. We will complete this process in three months. People get in trouble if they think the government will get the money.
That is why we have decided to remove them, "Gadkari said. Gadkari also said that people living close to toll plazas can show their Aadhaar cards and get passes.
