State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) Chairman T. Srirangarao said the commission five-year power tariff proposal by the DISCOMs

State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) Chairman T. Srirangarao said the commission had put forward a five-year power tariff proposal by the DISCOMs and was considering the views of consumers on it. 

The ERC chairman disclosed the details at a press conference held in Hyderabad. "The revenue gap proposed by DISCOMs for the year 2022-23 is Rs 16,000 crore. However, the commission approved a revenue gap of Rs 14,237 crore. Revenue requirements Rs 53,000 crore ARR proposal.


 The Commission has approved Rs 48,708 crore for ARR proposals. 50 paise per unit for home users and Rs 1 per unit for industries. The hike will take effect from 1st April, 2022 the ERC chairman said. Srirangarao, who received 38.38 per cent more proposals than in the past, clarified that the tariff on electricity for agriculture and saloons has not been increased.

It was revealed that the tariff proposals for EV charging have not been approved and the DISCOMs have been directed to submit the proposals to the Commission by November 30.
Jeedimetla suggested that the smart grid should be fully expanded.

The increase in electricity tariff by category is as follows

  • Increase of Rs.8.50 to Rs.9 from 301 to 400 in LT-1B (2)
  • Increase in LT-1B (2) from 401 to 800 units from Rs.9 to Rs.9.50
  • Increase in LT1 -B (2) from Rs.9.50 to Rs.10 for more than 800 units
  • Increase from Rs.10 to Rs.11 per 500 units in LT-2
  • Increase in LT-2A up to 50 units from Rs.6 to Rs.7
  • Increase in LT-2B up to 100 units from Rs.7.50 to Rs.8.50
  • Increase in LT-2B from 101 to 300 units from Rs.8.90 to Rs.9.90
  • Increase in LT-2B from Rs.9.40 to Rs.10.40 for 301 to 500 units
  • Increase in LT-2B over 500 units from Rs.10 to Rs.11
  • Increase in unit price from Rs 12 to Rs 13 in LT-2C segment
  • Increase in LT-1A up to 50 units from Rs.1.40 to Rs.1.95
  • Increase in LT-1B from 101 to 200 units from Rs 4.30 to Rs 4.80
  • Increase in LT-1B (2) up to 200 units from Rs.5 to Rs.5.10
