The central government has taken a key step as part of the Agnipath scheme. The Indian Army has issued a notification for the recruitment of firefighters. It also announced dates for firefighter appointments in the Air Force and Navy. The Air Force has announced that it will issue a firefighting notification on the 24th of this month.

Agnipath Scheme Notification details
- This is the officer recruitment process (PBOR).
- The three forces will jointly make appointments over a four-year period through online centralized process rallies, campus interviews, etc.
- This year will have 46,000 appointments. The process starts in 90 days.
- The age limit is 17.7–21 years. Six months training, three and a half years of service.
- The existing eligibility criteria apply to all three forces.
- Recruitment will be on an ‘All India – All Class’ basis, in contrast to the areas where the army has been in place so far and the caste-based appointments. This gradually changed the nature of regiments such as the Rajput, Maratha, Sikh and Jat regiments.
- Those who join in the duties are called Agniveer. They are given a special rank rather than the current rank.
- The salary is Rs 30,000 per month for the first year. Rs 21 lakh will be handed over. Rs 9,000 goes to the corpus fund. The center will deposit the same amount. 40,000 for the fourth year.
- After completing four years of service, he will receive a service fund package of Rs 11.71 lakh.
- There is no income tax on this.
- Free life insurance coverage of Rs 48 lakh for the duration of the service.
- There will be no gratuity, no pension benefits.
- Based on talent and vacancies, 25 percent will be considered for permanent service.
- The rest are preferred in state government and private sector appointments.
